WHAT'S NEW IN 2007
stars.gif (379 bytes)

Effective January 1, 2007, the CARLISLE Foundation is once again accepting proposals. A limited number of annual grants will be made in both 2007 and 2008. Grants will be made for Entrepreneurial Projects ONLY.

Programs supporting Social Entrepreneurship have long been an interest of the CARLISLE Foundation. Over the years we have supported a number of such ventures. A list of some of the more recent project follows later in this page. In addition, the primary donors of the CARLISLE Foundation have made a long term commitment to develop and support the Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship which is located at Pace University in New York City (www.pace.edu/wilsoncenter). Although not directly supported by the CARLISLE Foundation, we have been engaged in a very close working relationship

Non-profit organizations interested in developing proposals for consideration under CARLISLE’s new grant making initiative should carefully read the following criteria and guidelines for submitting concept papers:

Criteria:

  • Concept papers may be submitted from recognized as 501 (c) 3 organizations only.
  • These organizations must be located in one of the six New England states or in the tri-state, metro New York area.
  • The proposed entrepreneurial project must be new, although projects in a limited pilot phase may be submitted.
  • Funding would be limited to a one year request.
Concept papers will cease to be accepted on August 31, 2008.

Guidelines:

    1. Applicants must submit a brief concept paper of no more than three (3) pages.
    2. Applicants must furnish a copy of the 501 (c) 3 determination from the IRS. Nothing may be substituted for this.
    3. The concept paper should include a description of the agency, a review of any previous entrepreneurial projects, a description of the project they propose developing and a description of project collaborators and/or consultants. A preliminary budget should be included.
    4. Most entrepreneurial projects, in addition to providing a new income stream to the organization, also provide measurable impact to a group of clients and/or the community. This should also be discussed.
    5. Concept papers may be submitted at any time. They will be reviewed as they are received and responded to within a matter of weeks.

Following is a list of some of the CARLISLE Foundation’s more interesting grants that follow a social entrepreneurship model. We have included the year they were funded so that you will be able to search them out elsewhere on this website. There you will also find the contact person, e-mail address and/or web site so that you may learn more.
